Toyota Indonesia still keeping LC FJ pricing under wraps

PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) is still studying the appropriate price for the Land Cruiser FJ in the Indonesian automotive market, ahead of its official launch in late 2026.

Marketing Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), Bansar Maduma, has not yet been able to confirm the price of the vehicle, which will sit in the segment between the Toyota Fortuner and the Land Cruiser 300.

“Once again, we are still in the calculation stage,” said Bansar in Yogyakarta on Monday (14 September).

He expressed hope that the price ultimately set will meet customer expectations, including prospective buyers who have already registered their interest through Toyota’s dealer network.

“Hopefully it can meet the expectations of all customers,” Bansar explained.

The Land Cruiser FJ will occupy a market gap between the Fortuner and the Land Cruiser 300. Its presence forms part of Toyota’s effort to broaden its range of SUVs with rugged characteristics and the ability to tackle a variety of road conditions.

In Japan, the Land Cruiser FJ is offered from 4.5 million yen, equivalent to around Rp500 million.

However, that figure cannot be used as a benchmark for the selling price in Indonesia due to differences in specifications, taxes and distribution costs.

For the Japanese market, the Land Cruiser FJ uses a 2.7-litre petrol engine coded 2TR-FE. The four-cylinder in-line powerplant produces a maximum output of 120 kW or 163 PS and peak torque of 246 Nm.

Power is delivered through a six-speed Super ECT automatic transmission. Toyota has also equipped the vehicle with Downhill Assist Control (DAC) and Hill Start Assist Control (HAC) to aid control when descending and climbing gradients.

The Land Cruiser FJ uses a ladder frame chassis construction, which also serves as the basis for the development of several other Toyota vehicles, including the Fortuner and Hilux. Even so, the specifications and pricing for Indonesia are still awaiting an official announcement from TAM.

With the launch targeted for the end of next year, confirmation of the Land Cruiser FJ’s price and configuration is the information most eagerly awaited by prospective Toyota SUV customers.
