Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) has recorded growth in national electrified vehicle sales, amid increasingly fierce competition in the industry following a wave of Chinese brands crowding the Indonesian automotive market.

Marketing Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) Bansar Maduma said that sales of Toyota and Lexus electrified vehicles had increased by 86 per cent compared to the same period in 2025.

“For the Toyota electrification segment, including Lexus, in the same period, it reached 38,000 units, or contributed 21 per cent of Toyota’s total sales (nationally). So, we are seeing an increase of 86 per cent compared to the same period last year,” Bansar told journalists attending a Media Drive event in Yogyakarta on Monday (14/9).

Based on the data shared by Bansar, Toyota’s overall sales reached 175,000 wholesale units, up 9 per cent compared to the same period the previous year.

For the electrification segment, there are three flagship models serving as the backbone of Toyota’s efforts to beat its competitors, namely the Kijang Innova Zenix Hybrid EV, Veloz Hybrid EV, and Yaris Cross Hybrid EV.

Meanwhile, the arrival of the Toyota Veloz Hybrid has been one model demonstrating positive reception since it was introduced to consumers in November 2025.

“To date, its installations have reached 20,000 units and contributed significantly to the growth of Toyota’s electrified vehicle sales,” Bansar said.

The growth of Toyota’s electrified vehicle sales is an indicator that competition in environmentally friendly vehicles in the national automotive market is increasingly developing.

In addition to maintaining its position through models marketed earlier, Toyota faces competition from a number of Chinese brands that continue to introduce electrified vehicles with a variety of technologies and segments.

TAM considers these electrified sales achievements an important part of Toyota’s business development in Indonesia, in line with growing consumer interest in vehicles with electrification technology.
