Toyota GR Models Record Positive Trend, Fortuner is the Best Seller
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Toyota’s Gazoo Racing (GR) series has recorded positive sales results in Indonesia. In fact, the contribution of GR models to several Toyota vehicles is said to be approaching half of the total sales of related models.
Marketing Director of PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM), Bansar Maduma, said that the total contribution of GR models to Toyota sales currently reaches around 19%. This figure is calculated from the entire Toyota vehicle line.
“If you look at the data, for GR, in total Toyota it is around 19%. Because we sell commercial vehicles, such as the Toyota Rangga which does not have a GR version,” said Bansar in Central Jakarta, Saturday (16/5/2026).
“But if you look at models that have GR versions, that’s almost 45% (of the contribution from sales), so it’s quite large,” said Bansar.
He cited examples of models such as the Fortuner and Rush, which have both GR and non-GR variants. Of these models, sales of the GR versions are said to be quite dominant.
“For example, the Fortuner, the Fortuner has a GR model and a non-GR model. The Rush, it has a GR version, it doesn’t. If we average it out, 45% are GR models,” he said.
Bansar said that if all models with GR variants are combined, the composition of sales is almost balanced with regular variants.
The GR model with the highest sales currently comes from the Toyota Fortuner GR Sport.
According to Bansar, the high consumer interest in GR models shows that the sporty character is still an attraction for Toyota customers in Indonesia.
“It can be seen that even with different needs or styles, they still have a sporty spirit within,” said Bansar.
