Toyota expands vocational school development programme reach

PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia is expanding the reach of its vocational school development programme, which includes providing vehicle engines as practical training tools for vocational high school students. After covering 29 vocational high schools (SMK) in Java, the programme run by PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) has been extended to Lombok Island. According to a company press release on Thursday, the programme’s expansion was marked by the handover of one Toyota 2TR petrol engine unit to SMKN 1 Jonggat in Central Lombok and one Toyota 2GD diesel engine unit to SMKN 2 Kuripan in West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. “This step may seem simple, but we hope it can become part of their journey to grow, create, and contribute in their respective regions,” said TMMIN President Director Nandi Julyanto. He stated that the future of Indonesia’s industry is built from the classrooms occupied by students today. The provision of practical facilities and learning aids is expected to make it easier for vocational students to become familiar with engine technology currently widely used in the automotive industry. Through the programme, students at the partner schools can learn discipline, efficiency, occupational safety practices, and collaborative working skills in accordance with industry operational standards. Support for vocational education is expected to improve the quality of SMK graduates, help meet the manufacturing sector’s workforce needs, and enhance the competitiveness of the national automotive industry.
