Toyota claims that vehicle orders, or Surat Pemesanan Kendaraan (SPK), for the Toyota Veloz Hybrid have surpassed 10,000 units since its initial introduction in Indonesia. The hybrid model was introduced by PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) last November at the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2025 and has received a positive response from local consumers.

Bansar Maduma, Marketing Director of PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM), stated that this achievement represents a significant milestone for Toyota within the electrification segment. He noted that the high volume of orders for the Veloz Hybrid demonstrates Indonesian consumers’ confidence in Toyota’s hybrid products.

He also assessed that rising fuel prices and recent economic challenges have influenced consumer trends towards choosing more efficient vehicles. “And certainly, this may be impacted by current events, where petrol prices have risen and the overall economy is facing challenges,” he said.

According to Bansar, consumers are becoming increasingly selective in choosing vehicles, particularly those offering fuel efficiency without compromising daily mobility needs. He explained that hybrid vehicles are considered suitable for both urban driving and long-distance intercity travel.

“Customers are now smarter in choosing more efficient vehicles. While focusing on efficiency, they are also considering what best suits their individual needs,” said Bansar.

Bansar added that the increasing trend in interest towards hybrid cars is not limited to the Veloz Hybrid but extends to other Toyota electrified models. “We are seeing an upward trend, specifically in our hybrid cars. It is not just in the Veloz, but also in the Zenix and our other hybrid models,” he concluded.
