PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) has introduced the ninth-generation Hilux to support operational needs in the industrial sector and strengthen its position in the commercial vehicle market. Hiroyuki Oide, Marketing Director of PT Toyota Astra Motor, stated during a press conference in Tangerang, Banten, on Monday that the Hilux showcases quality, durability, reliability, and suitability for consumer needs. The latest generation Hilux offers a tougher and more modern design, improved engine performance, and enhanced safety and driving comfort features. The new Toyota Hilux adopts a ‘cyber sumo’ design concept, featuring a larger grille, sharper LED headlamps, and a more prominent Toyota emblem. The vehicle has a ground clearance of 312 mm and uses 18-inch alloy wheels for the V type and 17-inch wheels for the G and E types. The Hilux’s cockpit presents a more modern appearance and is equipped with a head unit that can connect to gadgets. The new Toyota Hilux is powered by a 2,800 cc engine. The double cabin Hilux can achieve up to 500 Nm of torque with an automatic transmission and 420 Nm with a manual transmission, while the single cabin Hilux delivers 420 Nm of torque. The manufacturer has incorporated technology support such as Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Automatic High Beam (AHB), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Lane Tracing, and braking assistance on the 4x4 model. All types are equipped with an Anti Lock Braking System and Hill Start Assist (HSA). The V and G types, as well as the double cabin, are fitted with an Emergency Brake Signal (EBS), and the V type and BEV double cabin are equipped with seven airbags.
