A massive fire has swept through a toy factory on Jalan Ladang, Kedai Durian Village, Medan Johor District, Medan City. The blaze was reported by local residents at 8:35 p.m. Western Indonesia Time on Saturday (20/6/2026), and as of 3:00 a.m. early Sunday, the flames were still burning fiercely. Firefighters are struggling to extinguish the fire because the materials inside the factory are highly flammable. A number of fire engines are continuously shuttling back and forth to transport water for the firefighting effort. Medan Johor Sub-district Head Bachtiar Nasution stated that firefighters are still working to put out the blaze as it has not been tamed after six hours. “The fire is not out yet, they are still trying to extinguish it,” Bachtiar said in the early hours of Sunday (21/6/2026). He mentioned that he, along with the village head and local Forkopimda officials, are maintaining a guard at the fire location to anticipate any undesirable incidents. “We are still guarding the fire location,” he said. Bachtiar admitted he does not yet know the total number of fire engines deployed, as vehicles are still transporting water to the scene. “Regarding the fleet, I don’t know the number because it is still ongoing,” he concluded.
