Toxicologist Among Experts Involved in Sutrimo's Post-Mortem Examination

A joint forensic team conducted a thorough examination of Sutrimo’s body today. A number of experts from various scientific fields were involved, one of whom was a toxicologist.

The Head of the Medical and Health Division of the Indonesian National Police’s Medical and Health Centre, Brigadier General Dr Sumy Hastry Purwanti, said the examination was not only carried out by medicolegal forensic specialists. The team also involved forensic laboratory experts, toxicology or poison specialists, DNA experts, and anatomical histopathology experts.

“We from the Indonesian Forensic and Medicolegal Doctors Association (PDFMI) also involved several experts in this. Besides medicolegal forensic specialists, we also invited colleagues from the forensic laboratory and from the toxicology laboratory at the University of Indonesia, as well as at Airlangga University, to examine the lab results later, and also DNA experts and anatomical histopathology experts,” Hastry told reporters, as reported by detikJateng on Wednesday (12/8/2026).

In addition, DNA and anatomical histopathology experts were involved in the examination. According to Hastry, the involvement of these various experts was intended to ensure the examination could be carried out comprehensively.

“So that we work thoroughly, comprehensively, and the results will also be based on the laboratory examination results that we obtain later,” she said.

Hastry said the team could not yet conclude the cause of Sutrimo’s death based solely on the initial examination. Samples taken from the body and the burial environment will first be examined in the laboratory.

“Please pray for us, colleagues and the public, so that we can make clear whether the manner and cause of death was natural or unnatural,” she said.

She asked the public to be patient while waiting for the examination process. The forensic team, Hastry said, would work to the maximum to obtain findings that could explain Sutrimo’s death.

“So we also ask for time to work to the maximum today,” she said.
