Tower project

Looking at the picture in your Sept. 13 issue on the Business Page entitled Tower Project, I'm amazed. The project is estimated to cost about Rp 900 billion or more.

It is saddening to look at the picture of the tower, which was designed by Chinese architects who were awarded the mega project.

I know nothing technically, esthetically or philosophically about the tower.

As far as beautiful Indonesian architect is concerned, your article on Sunday Sep. 3 in the Accent column is still fresh in my mind. I am proud of and have trust in the ability of Indonesian architects. There are certainly several reputable local architects.

The richness of Indonesia in terms of culture, civilization and unique ethnic resources are unlimited.

Unless these Chinese architects were awarded the project through international bidding, and fulfill international standard by having created a masterpiece and worldwide renowned architecture, it is difficult to comprehend the rationale behind the project.

Have the investors taken just a little time to think over the beautiful nature of Indonesia? Will the tower have some Indonesian touch? I hope so!

Indonesian architects, along with their cultural roots, have been challenged.
