Jakarta — The government is continuing to refine measures toward implementing Zero Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL), which is targeted to take effect from 1 January 2027. One of the main focuses is to strengthen law enforcement against freight vehicles that breach dimensional and load rules. Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) chief Agus Suryonugroho said the process toward Zero ODOL has been ongoing for quite some time and involves various ministries and related agencies. He said the police will take action against ODOL vehicles or those in violation. However, he stressed that the approach will not only prioritise strict sanctions but also a more humane approach so that business operators and drivers can adapt to the new rules. “In the future, we will enforce the law in a humane yet firm manner. In addition, enforcement will be conducted leveraging digital transformation. So all ministries have undertaken these efforts,” Agus said. With a digital system, the monitoring-to-enforcement process is expected to be more effective, transparent, and reduce potential violations on the road. For information, ODOL stands for Over Dimension and Over Loading. Over Dimension means the vehicle dimensions have been modified so as not to conform to factory standards or regulations. Meanwhile, Over Loading refers to the vehicle carrying a load exceeding the maximum allowed.
