Tourists Panic as NTT Earthquake Shakes Padar Island

A strong earthquake centred at sea in the Nagekeo region caused a number of tourists to panic while on Padar Island, Komodo National Park, on Saturday (15/8). A tour guide was seen asking tourists to remain calm while the earthquake tremors were ongoing. Meanwhile, the death toll from the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara has been reported to have reached 25 people spread across several areas. In addition to the fatalities, around 2,000 residents have been displaced and are carrying out self-evacuation to anticipate the possibility of aftershocks.
