Tourists Affected by Bromo Closure Can Request Refunds

The Ministry of Tourism has stated that tourists who purchased online tickets for visits to the Mount Bromo area between 9 and 15 August 2026 can apply for a refund or reschedule their visit due to the temporary closure caused by a fire. According to data from the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Office, a total of 3,062 visitors purchased tickets online for that period, comprising both domestic and international tourists. The ministry confirmed that rescheduling requests will be exempt from any change fees and will be valid until 31 December 2026. For hotel bookings, the ministry noted that refund and rescheduling processes will follow the standard mechanisms in place, as no special policy has been established with the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association. The ministry urged affected tourists to follow official information from the national park office and local government, and emphasised that the priority remains ensuring the fire is fully handled and the area is safe before tourism activities resume.
