Tourist Visits to Sukabumi City Surge 1,000% During Eid Holidays
The number of tourist visits to several tourist attractions in Sukabumi City, West Java, during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah holidays surged significantly. The local Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office (Disporapar) recorded an increase of nearly 1,000% during that period.
The Head of Disporapar Sukabumi City, Rahmat Sukandar, explained in detail that they are still awaiting the recapitulation of data from each attraction manager. However, from preliminary reports, there was a spike in the number of tourists.
“We are still waiting for the official visitor data reports from each tourist attraction manager. But from the preliminary data, several attractions reported a 1,000% increase in tourist visits compared to usual,” said Rahmat on Friday (27/3).
Rahmat stated that the significant surge in tourist visits was due to many local residents returning home. This was compounded by tourists from outside the area who deliberately holidayed in Sukabumi City and its surroundings.
“Alhamdulillah, this Eid moment saw quite a lot of people returning home. This situation has quite an impact on tourist visits,” he said.
The surge in tourist visits has had a positive impact on the regional economy. They not only visited attractions but also shopped and stayed overnight.
“If we look at it superficially, the economic circulation ran well during the Eid holidays. It will certainly influence regional economic growth,” he explained.
Rahmat appreciated all parties involved in actively ensuring the area remained conducive during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah celebrations. Thus, both residents and tourists felt more comfortable visiting Sukabumi City. “This is a positive indication for Sukabumi City, which relies on trade and services,” he stated.
Overall, from 2025 to 2026, the tourist visit rate also increased significantly. There was an addition of visits from around 700,000 to 1 million people visiting Sukabumi City. “Year on year, there has been an increase in the number of visits,” he concluded.
Tourist visits during the 2026 Eid holiday season rose significantly compared to normal days or the previous year’s Eid.
