Tourism training launched
JAKARTA (JP): A customer service training program was launched
yesterday to improve the quality of human resources in the front
lines of Indonesia's tourism businesses.
The program, called Pesona Indonesia, was launched by Director
General of Tourism Andi Mappi Sammeng.
Andi yesterday presented certificates to 28 "master trainers"
who will train employees of tourism businesses in 15 of the
country's provinces.
The training program was first introduced in Canada under the
name SuperHost and later developed in Britain, Australia and New
Zealand.
Its copyright for Indonesia was later bought by American
Express' Travel Related Service, which developed the program
together with the Indonesian Tourism Promotion Board and the
Ministry of Tourism, Post and Telecommunications. (pwn)
