JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Deputy Head of BKPM Todotua Pasaribu has affirmed that the tourism sector has become one of the main contributors to national investment realisation. By the first quarter of 2025, the tourism sector's achievement reached Rp41 trillion.

Todotua made the remarks during the inauguration of the Westin Nirup Island Resort and Spa on Nirup Island, Batam, on Tuesday (3 June).

"Indonesia's investment realisation data for the first quarter of this year shows an achievement of Rp465.2 trillion, or 24.4 per cent of the President's target. The other services sector is the fourth largest contributor, which includes tourism," said Todotua in his statement on Thursday (5 June).

On the same occasion, Todotua also highlighted the significant potential of the Riau Islands, particularly Batam, in attracting investment. During the 2020–2024 period, total investment realisation in the Riau Islands reached Rp148.65 trillion, of which Batam contributed 61.99 per cent, or Rp92.15 trillion.

"Although the technology industry sector remains dominant, the growth opportunities for the tourism sector in this region are enormous," Todotua explained.
