Tourism Ministry Targets 2.23 Million Australian Visitors Through 'Go Beyond Ordinary' Campaign
The Ministry of Tourism is aiming to increase the number of Australian tourists visiting Indonesia while encouraging them to explore destinations beyond Bali and Jakarta. Australia is the second-largest source of foreign tourists for Indonesia, with 1,754,750 visits recorded in 2025. By June 2026, arrivals had reached 864,750, marking a 6.29% increase compared to the same period the previous year. The ministry has set a target of 2.23 million Australian visits for this year.
To sustain this growth, the ministry launched the ‘Go Beyond Ordinary’ sales mission, holding events at Rydges World Square in Sydney and the Oaks Melbourne on Market Hotel. These events connected Indonesian tourism industry players with Australian travel partners to expand tour packages and business transactions to a wider range of destinations. The campaign promotes quality travel experiences, including nature, culture, marine tourism, gastronomy, and wellness.
The initiative aims not only to boost arrival numbers but also to extend the length of stay, increase tourist spending, and strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesian tourism. The ministry collaborated with tourism associations, the Indonesian Consulates General in Sydney and Melbourne, Garuda Indonesia, and Melbourne Airport. The sales mission in Australia successfully generated potential business for 3,050 tourists, with a projected foreign exchange value of 4.4 million US dollars, equivalent to approximately Rp78 billion.
