Tourism Ministry Promotes Indonesian Destinations to Malaysian Market
The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Tourism, is promoting the beauty of Indonesian tourism to Malaysian tourists via the ‘Wonderful Indonesia Sales Mission 2026’.
‘Through this activity, the Ministry of Tourism aims not only to increase the number of visits from Malaysian tourists but also to encourage the distribution of visits to various destinations in Indonesia, extend the length of stay, and increase tourist expenditure during their travels in Indonesia,’ said the Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, in an official statement confirmed in Jakarta on Friday.
Made stated that the event was organised with the full support of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Kuala Lumpur and was held in two strategic cities: Seremban, Negeri Sembilan on 18 June 2026, and Kuala Lumpur on 19 June 2026.
This year’s promotion focuses on introducing 10 Priority Tourism Destinations and 5 Regenerative Tourism Destinations that offer high-quality, sustainable, and eco-friendly travel experiences, providing greater benefits to local communities at the destinations.
This synergy is expected to further strengthen connectivity between destinations while providing a more comfortable, safe, and integrated travel experience for tourists.
‘The involvement of PT KAI is a strategic step to strengthen tourism accessibility while introducing train travel as part of the tourism experience in Indonesia,’ she added.
Made hopes that collaboration between the government, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), and tourism industry players will further strengthen the cooperative relationship between Indonesia and Malaysia in the tourism sector, while providing a positive impact on national economic growth.
The Director of Business and Business Development of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), Rafli Yandra, expressed commitment to providing safe, comfortable, and integrated transportation services so that Malaysian tourists can more easily explore various leading destinations, particularly on Java and other regions of Indonesia.
During the event, the Ministry of Tourism brought approximately 25 Indonesian tourism industry players (sellers), including travel agencies, hotels, destination managers, and related industry partners. They were brought together directly with around 70 Malaysian tourism industry players (buyers) from Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Kuala Lumpur.
The series of activities for the Wonderful Indonesia Sales Mission Malaysia 2026 included table-top business meetings to explore business cooperation opportunities, product presentations by PT KAI (Persero) regarding services, route networks, and the convenience of train-based tour packages, as well as networking sessions to strengthen networks and build long-term collaboration between the tourism industry players of both countries.
