Tourism Ministry focuses 2027 budget on boosting economic impact
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Tourism has stated that it will direct its 2027 Work Plan and Budget towards increasing the impact of the tourism sector on the national economy, while ensuring that the benefits of tourism development are increasingly felt by communities across various regions.
“The budget discussion is not merely about the size of the budget, but about how every rupiah of state money is translated into work programmes that are well-targeted, implemented accountably, and jointly monitored so as to provide the greatest possible benefit to the public,” said Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana during a Working Meeting with Commission VII in Jakarta on Monday.
Widiyanti said that in 2027, the Ministry of Tourism has been allocated a budget ceiling of Rp1,509,057,247,000. The budget is directed towards supporting the achievement of key performance indicators as well as resolving various strategic issues in tourism development.
The allocation for the Deputy for Destination and Infrastructure has increased from Rp39.43 billion to Rp48.54 billion, while the Deputy for Industry and Investment has increased from Rp21.69 billion to Rp26.33 billion. The Deconcentration Assistance budget has also increased from Rp17.86 billion to Rp19.76 billion to support the equitable distribution of tourism development across all provinces.
Flagship programmes for 2027 include Improving Tourism Safety, Tourism Villages, Quality Tourism, Event by Indonesia, and Tourism 5.0. On the destination side, government assistance for improving amenities and accessibility is targeted to increase from 92 units in 2026 to 150 units in 2027, while the tourism safety improvement programme will be implemented in 24 locations.
Digitalisation is also being strengthened through the development of SISPARNAS and JADESTA, with a target of more than 6,300 tourism village data and information entries on JADESTA as well as the provision of tourism attraction data in 38 provinces through SISPARNAS.
As a foundation, in the first half of 2026 the tourism sector recorded 7.45 million foreign tourist arrivals, US$8.43 billion in foreign exchange earnings, 0.63 billion domestic tourist trips, and Rp39.68 trillion in tourism investment.
“We are committed to ensuring that all planned programmes can be implemented properly and accountably to build a national tourism sector that is resilient, competitive, and sustainable, and that increasingly benefits the public,” she said.
