Tourism Ministry Expands Domestic Travel Options Through Open Trip Sales Mission
The Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) is expanding the choice of domestic tour packages through a Sales Mission for Open Trips, aiming to strengthen the national tourism ecosystem and encourage more people to travel within the country.
Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana stated that the event, held at The Jogja Hotel & Conference Center in Yogyakarta, brings together tourism industry players with potential buyers in a business forum to broaden cooperation networks and create transaction opportunities. “This activity is an opportunity for the national tourism industry to present travel products that are light, varied, and competitive, so that people are more interested and have more choices to travel #DiIndonesiaAja,” she said in an official statement.
She explained that the open trip concept offers a more flexible travel alternative, with schedules, routes, facilities, and prices predetermined by the organiser, making it more accessible to the public. This travel model can also be tailored to the needs of various segments, ranging from schools, universities, and communities to government agencies, banks, and companies that regularly hold outings, gatherings, or study tours.
The Sales Mission aligns with the positive trend in domestic tourist movements. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the number of domestic tourist trips throughout 2025 reached 1.20 billion, growing by 17.53 percent compared to the previous year.
Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, said the Open Trip Table Top event serves as a strategic space connecting sellers with buyers curated by the ministry to generate more effective business cooperation. “We present sellers offering varied tour packages and products with diverse, interesting travel experiences, capable of meeting the needs of various evolving market segments, especially the younger generation who are increasingly interested in the open trip concept,” Made said.
Through a rotating table concept and more intensive discussions, the ministry hopes to create concrete and sustainable business cooperation opportunities, thereby enriching the choice of domestic tourism products while strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesia’s tourism industry.
