Tourism Ministry and Danantara to Develop Destinations to Create Jobs
The Ministry of Tourism and BPI Danantara (the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency) intend to strengthen tourism destination development in order to open up broader employment opportunities for the public.
Ministry of Tourism spokesperson Imam Priyono said in Jakarta on Wednesday that the synergy between the two parties covers destination and infrastructure development, investment and the tourism industry, human resource capacity building, special-interest tourism product development, data and information exchange, as well as strengthened marketing and tourism activities.
“However, the working scheme is still under discussion,” Imam said.
Nevertheless, the Ministry of Tourism is working to ensure that tourism development needs and direction can be connected with investment opportunities. Meanwhile, Danantara has a strategic role in supporting the development of assets, infrastructure and the investment ecosystem.
According to him, the Ministry of Tourism has a strategic role in carrying out its vision as a sector that drives investment, opens up employment and creates added value down to the regions.
Meanwhile, BPI Danantara holds a strategic position in helping to drive the development of destinations, infrastructure and Indonesia’s tourism investment ecosystem.
Accordingly, the two parties plan to create productive, accountable and sustainable programmes and concrete actions, while also serving as an umbrella for broader synergy between the Ministry of Tourism, BPI Danantara, state-owned enterprises and various other stakeholders.
“For destinations or projects that are investment priorities, the mapping and discussion process will be carried out in a measured manner by considering readiness, feasibility and potential economic impact,” Imam said.
On another note, he mentioned that a meeting has been initiated between Garuda Indonesia and GIPI, PHRI, and several hotel chains such as Artotel Group, Wyndham Hotels, Archipelago Hotels, Ascott Indonesia, El Royale Hotels and Jambuluwuk Hotels to explore potential cooperation in utilising Garuda Miles within the accommodation industry through bundling flight and hotel products.
The Ministry of Tourism has strengthened its synergy with BPI Danantara to build a quality, competitive and sustainable tourism ecosystem. This was realised through a Joint Understanding signed by Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana and CEO of BPI Danantara Rosan Roeslani at the Danantara office in Jakarta on Wednesday (12/8/2026).
Through the MoU, the Ministry of Tourism is working to ensure that tourism development focuses not only on destinations but is also supported by integrated investment, infrastructure, tourism products, human resources and marketing.
The memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Tourism and Danantara is expected to serve as an umbrella for collaboration to integrate the strengths and capacities of both parties in tourism development and investment.
On another note, during the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives and the Regional Representatives Council held on 14 August 2026, President Prabowo Subianto expressed the government’s readiness to facilitate cooperation in utilising under-optimised state-owned enterprise assets with the private sector through an open, competitive and accountable process, while safeguarding strategic state ownership.
Prabowo stressed that state assets in the form of land, buildings, networks, areas and facilities that are not managed by state-owned enterprises must not be left idle and must benefit the people who need jobs and an economy that needs investment.
