Tourism Minister Optimistic about Domestic Tourist Surge at 2026 Eid Holidays
Cirebon — Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana expressed optimism that domestic tourists (wisnus) will flock to various tourist destinations in regions, including Cirebon, West Java, during the 2026 Eid holiday period, as public mobility is expected to increase significantly during this time.
In her visit to Cirebon on Tuesday, Widiyanti stated that public movement during this year’s Eid holiday is estimated to reach approximately 144 million people.
“We estimate there will be around 144 million domestic tourists, which will impact economic circulation in the tourism sector,” she said.
Additionally, she noted that tourism travel activities during the Eid holiday are predicted to drive economic circulation of more than 100 trillion rupiahs across various tourist destinations.
She explained that such preparations are important to ensure that people undertaking both homecoming journeys and tourism activities can enjoy their holidays with families in a safe environment.
“We want to ensure that destinations are safe and that people returning home for Eid can enjoy tourism with their families comfortably,” she said.
As an initial step, the Tourism Ministry has issued a circular to various relevant parties regarding the conduct of tourism activities during the Eid holiday period.
