Tourism Minister Identifies Eid Holiday as Key Tourism Opportunity
Jakarta — Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana has identified the Eid al-Fitr holiday break as a major tourism opportunity, marking a period when tourist movement and visitor numbers increase significantly.
Widiyanti noted that the extended Idul Fitri celebration holiday typically triggers notable growth in both domestic tourist movements and international visitor arrivals at various tourism destinations across Indonesia.
“The extended Eid holiday represents the largest opportunity for surges in domestic tourist movement and increased international visitor arrivals to Indonesia,” she stated when contacted by ANTARA from Jakarta on Sunday.
In response, the Tourism Ministry is conducting inspections to ensure tourism facility operators have prepared adequate facilities and services to handle increased visitor numbers during the Eid holiday period.
Additionally, the Tourism Ministry is coordinating with other stakeholders to organise a business conference and the Proud of Indonesian Tourism (BBWI) exhibition, as well as launching the “Shop in Indonesia Only” (BINA) campaign.
The Tourism Ministry is also supporting the promotion of regional tourism events and featuring information about Eid holiday tourism packages on the indonesia.travel website.
“We have also issued a circular to tourism industry associations and online travel agencies encouraging ticket price reductions,” stated the Tourism Minister.
