Tourism Minister highlights Cirebon's significant potential as a holiday destination for Lebaran 2026
Cirebon — Indonesia’s Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana has stated that Cirebon City and Cirebon Regency in West Java possess significant potential as tourist destinations during the extended holiday periods for Nyepi and Lebaran in 2026.
During her visit to Cirebon on Tuesday, Widiyanti said that she had directly observed the readiness of several tourist destinations in the region to handle the anticipated surge in visitors during the extended holiday period.
She explained that the inspection was necessary to ensure that tourism destination managers had adequately prepared various service aspects for visitors.
“It is important for us to conduct this review to directly observe how tourism venues in Cirebon City and Cirebon Regency are preparing to welcome and manage the extended Nyepi and Idul Fitri holiday periods,” she stated.
The delegation also visited the Cirebon Mask Museum, which showcases a collection of mask artistry and the historical significance embedded in local cultural traditions.
Widiyanti acknowledged having reviewed the Batik Trusmi shopping area, which has long been a favoured destination for tourists visiting Cirebon. According to her, the area has considerable potential to attract tourists seeking both cultural experiences and opportunities to purchase Cirebon’s distinctive batik products.
