Tourism meet to be held at Nusa Dua

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in cooperation with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN-WTO), will hold a Tourism Communications (Tourcom) Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific at Bali International Convention Center (BICC), the Westin Resort, Nusa Dua, from May 20 through May 21.

The two-day conference will discuss recent tourism issues in the region following the tsunami disaster and other global factors that have affected tourism in the past few years.

Participants at the conference will comprise ministers of tourism from Asia-Pacific countries including Indonesian Minister of Culture and Tourism Jero Wacik, Indian Minister of Tourism Renuka Chowdury, Peter de Jong (President of Pacific Asia Travel Association), James Mury from VISA Southeast Asia, Ian Kean from Asia Pacific Economic Forum (APEC-International Center for Sustainable Tourism) and representatives from the private sector, international media, experts, airlines, the hospitality industry, etc.

Discussions and workshops will deal with various issues on tourism communications, the future of international tourism, etc. -- JP
