Tour de Bintan 2026 to be held again after four-year hiatus
Tour de Bintan, the international cycling race, will return after a four-year hiatus. The event will take place at Plaza Lagoi, Bintan Resorts, in the Riau Islands, from 21-23 August 2026.
First staged in 2009, Tour de Bintan will again welcome riders of varying abilities. This year the organizers introduced a new visual identity as part of the event’s transformation.
Abdul Wahab, Chief Operating Officer of Bintan Resorts, said the logo refresh marks the start of a new chapter for Tour de Bintan, with Pulau Bintan serving as both destination and host.
“This logo refresh will mark the beginning of a new chapter for Tour de Bintan, with Pulau Bintan as both the destination and host,” Abdul Wahab said at a press conference in Jakarta.
“Tour de Bintan has long been one of the region’s flagship events, attracting domestic and international tourists to Pulau Bintan. The event also strengthens Bintan’s image as a sport tourism and active lifestyle destination.”
Ronny Kartika, Secretary of the Bintan Regency, said the event is expected to deliver economic impact through the arrival of riders, crews, and participants’ families. “Hopefully, with this event, it can help boost local economic growth and competitiveness… We are not only selling sport tourism, but our SMEs will also be affected,” he said.
One of the updates this year is the inclusion of the UCI 1.2 point race category, an official event registered with the Union Cycliste Internationale, giving riders a chance to earn points for international rankings.
In addition, Tour de Bintan 2026 features several race categories: Gran Fondo Classic 150km, Gran Fondo Century 100km, Gran Fondo Challenge 70km, Gran Fondo Discovery 45km, and an Individual Time Trial 17km.
Raja Azmizal Usman, the Chief Coordinator of Tour de Bintan, assured that the race would comply with UCI safety standards. “All race management will adhere to UCI standards, including the safety manager who ensures the riders’ safety,” he said.
The event is supported by the Bintan Regency Government, the Riau Islands Provincial Government, the Ministry of Tourism, the UCI, and the International Cycling Federation. The organizers are also working with Trifactor as event partner.

For access to the venue, participants can fly directly from Jakarta to Tanjung Pinang or transit via Batam. Participants from Singapore can reach Bintan Resorts by direct ferry from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal to Bandar Bentan Telani Ferry Terminal.
In previous editions, Tour de Bintan attracted hundreds to thousands of participants. It drew 962 riders in 2017, 1,050 in 2018, 1,087 in 2019, and 603 in the last edition in 2022.
