Touching Moment as KAI CEO Pledges to Fund Education for Child of Bekasi Timur Train Accident Victim

VIVA – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) CEO, Bobby Rasyidin, has become a social media sensation following a video of his visit to the family of a victim from the accident at Bekasi Station. In the video shared on the Instagram account @indotoday, Bobby is seen conversing with the child of the train accident victim.

Sitting with the victim’s family, Bobby offered educational assistance to the child.

“Alright, I’ll pay for your school from now on. Do you want that?” Bobby asked.

“Yes,” replied the boy wearing a black peci.

The KAI CEO reconfirmed the educational support offer. The boy simply nodded in agreement.

“Do you want it? For real? Yes,” Bobby asked.

The meeting concluded with an iconic moment as Bobby extended his hand, greeted by the boy who kissed the CEO’s hand.

“Salam,” said Bobby, and the boy responded by kissing his hand.

The moment quickly garnered comments from social media users. Many appreciated PT KAI’s tangible actions towards the victims of the Bekasi Timur Station accident.

“Simple but the DPR can’t do it,” one netizen quipped.

“KAI is busy taking responsibility… while the taxi side is busy deploying buzzers,” another jabbed.

“Mr Bobby, stay healthy. This must be really tough, hopefully KAI improves in all aspects, we support you, you must stay healthy,” said another.

KAI Provides Education Guarantee for Child of Deceased Victim in Bekasi Timur

Following the train accident incident at Bekasi Timur Station, KAI CEO Bobby Rasyidin visited the family to express condolences and listen to their needs. During the visit, Bobby stated that KAI is providing educational support through the Education Insurance programme to one of the deceased victim’s children.

“In this difficult situation, we want the family to feel accompanied. For one of the deceased victim’s children, KAI is providing an education guarantee through the Education Insurance programme so they can continue schooling properly,” Bobby said in his official statement on Friday, 1 May 2026.
