TotalFina opens RI gas field

PARIS (AFP): TotalFina announced on Friday they had put the
Peciko gas field off the east coast of Indonesia, eastern
Kalimantan, into operation.

The company said production should reach 22 million cubic
meters a day by January, though it has started at half that.

TotalFina has a 50 percent stake in the operation the
production contract, which was shared with the Indonesian
national company Pertamina and with Inpex of Japan.

The new field should bring up total production to more than
47,000 barrels of oil a day by 2000.
