Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Trade Budi Santoso reported that the total value of transactions from various national shopping programmes during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026 reached approximately Rp180 trillion.

At a press conference on the Impact of Eid al-Fitr on Trade and Tourism at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, Budi stated that the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag), in collaboration with other ministries/institutions and associations, implemented two flagship programmes to maintain public purchasing power: Friday Mubarak and Bina Lebaran 2026.

The Friday Mubarak programme recorded transactions of Rp126 trillion as of 29 March 2026, or 5.9% above target. Meanwhile, Bina Lebaran 2026 recorded transactions of Rp54.9 trillion, or 2.8% above target.

“Estimates for Friday Mubarak up to 31 March 2026 show transaction values reaching Rp129.115 trillion, or 8.5% above target,” Budi said.

Budi reported that the Friday Mubarak programme involved 200 brands, 11 million market traders, 414 shopping centres, and 13,450 traditional markets. The Bina Lebaran 2026 programme involved 800 brands, 80,000 retail outlets, and 400 shopping centres in 24 provinces.

Based on data from the Indonesia Shopping Centre Managers Association (APPBI), public visits to shopping centres during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr increased by around 12% year-on-year. Meanwhile, visit growth in the first quarter of 2026 was recorded at around 10%.

“Public consumption was dominated by food, beverages, and entertainment. The increase in visits in the first quarter of 2026 is estimated to grow by 10%,” Budi said.

He added that the programmes to maintain public purchasing power do not stop only during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period.

The government has also prepared several other flagship programmes such as Bina Holiday in June-July 2026, Bina HBD Indonesia in August 2026, Bina Indonesia Great Sale in December 2026, Holiday Sale in June 2026, Merdeka Madness in August 2026, EPIC Sale in December 2026, and Indonesia Shopping Festival in August 2026.

“All of this is done to increase our public’s purchasing power,” Budi added.
