Total signs Sumatra deal
PARIS (Reuter): Total said it has taken a 30 percent participating interest in the South Jambi "B" production sharing contract located in South Sumatra, Indonesia.
The deal was signed with Asamera, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gulf Canada Resources Ltd, which has a 45 percent interest and is the project's operator, Total said in a statement.
The deal was approved by Pertamina, the Indonesian national oil company which owns 25 percent of the permit.
Drilling of the first exploration well began early this month.
