Total of 119 Arrested Following Unrest During Hotel Sultan Land Execution
Polda Metro Jaya has arrested a total of 119 people in the aftermath of the unrest during the execution process for the Hotel Sultan land on Thursday (18/6). “Officers secured 119 individuals and brought them to the Polda Metro Jaya headquarters,” said Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, to reporters on Thursday. Budi stated that the arrests were made to protect against a potentially more dangerous escalation. “At the same time, we are mapping which groups are occupying the area illegally and investigating the intellectual actors who funded the mass mobilisation,” Budi said. Budi noted that efforts to obstruct the execution of a court ruling that has permanent legal force, or inkracht, are not only against the law but also violate the principle of res judicata pro veritate habetur. “It also violates the principle of res judicata pro veritate habetur, that a court ruling must be considered correct and respected by every citizen for the sake of collective social order,” he said. Furthermore, Polda Metro Jaya confirmed that the entire execution process for Block 15 of the former Hotel Sultan was carried out with full accountability and transparency. The police also urged all elements of society, particularly residents around Senayan, to remain calm, think clearly, and not be easily provoked by one-sided narratives on social media that deliberately incite division. The police also called on the public to entrust the entire resolution of this dispute to the legal corridor and legitimate judicial institutions. “If residents see any suspicious mass movements or require security assistance and traffic management around the GBK area, they are encouraged to contact the nearest officer or access the free quick service of the official Police Call Centre 110,” Budi said. The execution process for the Hotel Sultan land in the GBK area was marred by unrest. A crowd opposing the execution threw stones and mineral water bottles at officers. Officers responded to the throwing by spraying the crowd with a water cannon. Additionally, 29 people were reported injured as a result of the unrest, including personnel from the National Police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, and civilians.
