A total of 11 government offices were set ablaze by a mob in Puncak Regency, Central Papua, with three buildings completely destroyed and the rest partially burned. Three additional offices were vandalised.

Puncak Police Chief AKBP Domingos De F Ximenes stated that the three offices burned to the ground were the Health Office (Dinkes), the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) warehouse, and the local parliament (DPRK) office.

“Based on the data, the offices that were completely burned down include the Health Office, the BNPB warehouse, and the DPRK office. Meanwhile, the offices vandalised by the mob were the Communication and Information Office (Diskominfo), the National Unity and Politics Office (Kesbangpol), and the Inspectorate Office,” Domingos told detikcom on Wednesday (12/8/2026).

He added that eight other offices were partially burned. These included the Village Community Empowerment Office (PMK), the Social Services Office (Dinsos), the Regent and Deputy Regent’s Office, the Regional Secretary’s Office, the Finance Office, the Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Office (PPPA), and the Civil Service and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM).

Domingos confirmed that the situation is now under control, although security personnel remain on high alert to prevent further incidents. “The situation is now conducive. We have received reinforcements of one Brimob SST from the Central Papua Police Battalion and are currently conducting patrols,” he asserted.
