Total of 100 Million Honda Motor Units in Indonesia
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – As it approaches its 55th anniversary in 2026, PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) is preparing to achieve a major milestone: the cumulative production of 100 million Honda motor units in Indonesia.
This figure is not just a business achievement, but a strong symbol of Indonesia’s role as one of Honda’s main pillars globally.
Executive Vice President Director of AHM, Thomas Wijaya, affirmed that the journey since 1971 has made motorcycles an important part of the national economic pulse.
“These motorcycles have become one of the important means for productivity, for mobility, and also for driving economic growth in Indonesia,” he said.
According to him, for more than five decades, Honda motorcycles have not only been a means of transportation, but also the backbone of mobility for millions of people.
From daily workers and MSME actors to large corporations, two-wheeled vehicles have become a driver of productivity across sectors. Its ecosystem is also broad, involving employees, suppliers, dealers, financial institutions, and distribution networks throughout Indonesia.
In 2025, the domestic market recorded 6.4 million units, growing 1 percent compared to 6.3 million units in 2024.
“So, in terms of market, we are the third largest in the world. Of course, this is also an opportunity, an advantage for all of us, for our industry,” said Thomas.
This strategic position makes Indonesia not only a large market, but also a vital production base for Honda globally.
In a global context, this figure places AHM alternately in the first or second position as the largest Honda motorcycle producer in the world, competing with India.
When the domestic market is strong and production capacity is high, its contribution to the stability and growth of Honda at the international level becomes very significant.
