Total of 1,246 Train Tickets Cancelled in KAI Yogyakarta Region
As many as 1,246 train tickets have been cancelled by prospective passengers at various stations in the PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta region up to Wednesday, 29 April 2026.
This mass action is a direct impact of operational disruptions caused by a train accident at Bekasi Timur Station in West Java, which has triggered evacuation processes and route normalisation efforts to date.
Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta, Feni Novida Saragih, explained that the disruption forced management to implement operational pattern engineering to ensure travel safety.
“Today alone, there were an additional 335 passengers from a total of 14 train services whose departures were cancelled, bringing the total number of cancelled train tickets from KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta to 1,246,” said Feni on Wednesday, 29 April 2026.
Feni detailed that the thousands of returned tickets only cover transactions made directly at station counters within the scope of KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta. She noted that the figure is likely higher if accumulated with other cancellation channels not monitored locally.
“That number is specifically for those who refunded at stations in the KAI Daop 6 region. For passengers who cancelled via the Access by KAI app, KAI’s 121 contact centre, or counters in other Daops, the data is not with us,” said Feni. “Because passengers who were supposed to board from KAI Daop 6 might choose to cancel their tickets in other Daops.”
In response to the incident, PT KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta has extended its deepest apologies to all customers whose travel schedules have been disrupted. Feni emphasised that KAI has sent mass notifications via SMS and WhatsApp blasts to the affected prospective passengers regarding the cancellations.
The 14 train services from and to the Daop 6 region that were declared cancelled on 29 April 2026 include KA 267 and KA 268 Banyubiru on the Solo Balapan-Semarang Tawang route (return), KA 151 and KA 152 Brantas on the Blitar-Pasarsenen route (return), and KA 251 and KA 252B Jayakarta on the Surabaya Gubeng-Pasarsenen route (return).
Additionally, cancellations apply to KA 245B and KA 246B Majapahit on the Malang-Pasarsenen route (return), KA 103B and KA 104B Bogowonto on the Lempuyangan-Pasarsenen route (return), KA 7007C and KA 7008C KA Tambahan on the Yogyakarta-Gambir route (return), as well as KA 161 and KA 162 Bangunkarta on the Jombang-Pasarsenen route (return).
KAI is providing compensation in the form of a 100 per cent refund of ticket fares, excluding booking fees, for passengers whose trains could not depart. This refund process can be handled at station counters, the Access by KAI app, or via the telephone service at 021-121.
The refund process validity period is given a deadline of up to seven days from the date and time of departure stated on the ticket.
KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta states that it continues to monitor the route recovery process at Bekasi Timur Station so that train operations can return to normal as quickly as possible.
