Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana has stated that the total estimated losses from the fire in the Sade Traditional Village in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) have reached Rp3lag3.84 billion.

“We have received reports that total losses amount to Rp33.84 billion, and we have coordinated with the local government,” Widiyanti said during a Joint Working Meeting with Commission VII in Jakarta on Monday (31/8/2026).

Widiyanti noted that the fire in Sade Village has affected numerous buildings. She reported that 75 residential units within the village were impacted, while 20 units outside the village were also affected.

Furthermore, community meeting spaces such as the Berugak Sekenam—a traditional building characteristic of the Sasak Tribe in Lombok—saw 4 units affected, alongside 6 units of Berugak Sakepat and one Bale Beleq. Other affected facilities include eight rice barns, one public toilet, one gate, one pelonggu, one traditional mosque, and 69 art shops belonging to local MSMEs.

Regarding the impact on tourism workers, the Minister identified 75 local guides, 120 weavers, 60 souvenir and MSME vendors, 30 dancers and Gendang Belek players, 15 parking and security personnel, and 20 members of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) as being affected.

“Consequently, a total of 320 tourism workers, representing 189 heads of households, have been impacted,” Widiyanti stated.

To address the situation, Widiyanti mentioned that coordination with the relevant local government is underway, and both short-term and long-term recovery plans have been drafted. Short-term measures include the provision and distribution of food supplies for victims, empowerment programmes for the community and tourism workers, trauma healing, and technical guidance for Pokdarwis.

The Ministry of Tourism is also working to establish community kitchens and provide logistical aid through the Lombok Tourism Polytechnic, in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the TNI/Polri, and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI). There are also plans to construct a temporary museum and mosque.

“This is to ensure that the area can still be visited by tourists during the upcoming MotoGP event,” she added.

For long-term recovery, the government intends to form a cross-ministerial/agency task force to revitalise Sade Village, establish a dedicated donation account, and develop a reconstruction master plan, including the construction of habitable houses.

She explained that the Sade Traditional Village is one of 21 hamlets within the Rembitan Tourism Village. According to the Tourism Village Network (Jadesta) application, it is currently categorised as a developing tourism village. The village typically receives 200 tourist visits per day.

During peak seasons, such as the 2026 New Year holidays, visits can reach between 500 and 1,000 per day. Widiyanti noted that the economic turnover in Sade Village during the low season ranges from approximately Rp22.5 million to Rp35 million, while during the peak season, it can reach Rp50 million per day.
