Toshiba Releases Small Photorelay with 135°C Temperature Rating for High-Temperature Equipment Operation

| Source: ANTARA_ID | Technology

Kawasaki, Japan–(ANTARA/Business Wire)– Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation (“Toshiba”) has announced the launch of four voltage-driven photorelays, the “TLP3407SRB,” “TLP3412SRB,” “TLP3412SRHB,” and “TLP3412SRLB,” packaged in a small S-VSON4T package. These new photorelays provide a maximum operating temperature of 135°C for equipment operating in high-temperature environments. Mass production has begun today.

The increasing demand for high-density electronic component packaging in automotive equipment, driven by advancements in electrification and autonomous driving, has led to higher operating temperatures for automotive semiconductors. This necessitates testing under similar conditions to evaluate reliability. Consequently, testing equipment, burn-in equipment, probe cards, and other devices for automotive semiconductors must also operate at high temperatures, including the photorelays used within them.

The maximum operating temperature of Toshiba’s new products has been increased from 125°C in existing products[1] to 135°C through optimization of the internal element design. Furthermore, as these are voltage-driven photorelays with internal resistors on the input side, external resistors are not required, reducing the space required on the mounting board. The products are also packaged in a small S-VSON4T package, measuring 1.45 × 2.0 mm (typical).

This combination of factors makes the new photorelays suitable for use in automotive semiconductor testers, probe cards, and burn-in equipment, where multiple photorelays need to be mounted in a limited board space, and reliable high-temperature operation is essential.

Toshiba will continue to offer a range of products that support high-temperature operation in equipment.
