Tornado Strikes Tolite Jaya in North Gorontalo, One House Damaged

A tornado struck Tolite Jaya village in Tolinggula subdistrict, North Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo Province, on Wednesday (27 May) at approximately 12:30 WITA, causing severe damage to a resident’s roof. Mohammad Nasaru, Data Manager of the Gorontalo Provincial Disaster Management Agency’s Operations Control Center, confirmed the affected house belonged to Izal Pakaya, a household of six people. ‘Based on reports received, the kitchen area of the house was damaged when the roof was torn off by the tornado,’ Nasaru stated in Gorontalo on Thursday (28 May). A team from the agency inspected the site on Thursday morning to assess the damage, with analysis showing the most severe damage concentrated in the kitchen where the roof had completely detached due to strong winds. The agency has urged residents in Gorontalo to remain vigilant against potential extreme weather, noting that unpredictable conditions could trigger similar events. No casualties were reported, and residents are advised to report any weather anomalies to local authorities immediately.
