Tor Ganda builds CPO plant

JAKARTA (JP): Plantation company PT Tor Ganda is building a crude palm oil (CPO) processing plant in Bukit Kapur district, Dumai regency, Riau.

Company president DL Sitorus said in the Riau capital of Pakanbaru the new plant, costing Rp 90 billion (US$10.5 million), would process the palm oil produced by members of local village cooperative KUD Bukit Palma and the Swasembada Farmers Group.

"Basically we do not need a new CPO plant. But local farmers asked us to build the new plant to process their palm oil under a partnership scheme in which we will act as their foster fathers," he said. (gis)
