Top U.S. general heads for RI

WASHINGTON (AFP): General John Shalikashvili, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, left on Friday on a trip to Indonesia and Singapore, the Pentagon said on Thursday.

In Indonesia, the general was to meet with Indonesian military chief, General Feisal Tanjung, and other officials.

Major General Soo Khiang Bey, Singapore's defense force chief, is hosting Shalikashvili's visit.
