Top lifters absent from national c'ship

JAKARTA: Three medalists from the 2005 Southeast Asia (SEA)
Games are absent from the national weightlifting championship
which began here on Sunday.

Gold medalist in the men's 69-kg division Misdan Yunip of
Lampung, silver medalist in the men's 105-kg division Renaldi
Syainal of South Sulawesi and silver medalist in the women's 58-
kg division Lisa Rumbewas of Papua have opted to skip the
competition.

Lisa was around during the opening ceremony but she would not
take up the challenge, saying that she was still suffering from a
minor injury from the SEA Games, according to Antara.

Misdan is also still nursing his injury while Renaldi's
absence was not accounted for.

The national championship aims at selecting athletes for the
Asian Games national training, which starts in January. - JP
