Top figures to hold 3rd meeting

JAKARTA: Top national figures, including former presidents
Abdurrahman "Gus Dur" Wahid and Megawati Soekarnoputri, are
scheduled to hold a further meeting at Gus Dur's residence on
Friday.

It will be the third meeting of the figures after the first
and second ones were hosted by former military chief Gen. (ret)
Wiranto and former vice president Try Sutrisno respectively.

Former House of Representatives speaker Akbar Tandjung, former
Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. (ret) Nugroho Jayusman, Muslim
scholar Moeslim Abdurrahman and former youth activist Hariman
Siregar will also participate at Friday's meeting, which will
take place after Friday prayers.

"They will discuss various problems facing the nation," an
aide of Wiranto said.

Some of the figures were involved in personal disputes with
each other in the past. Megawati and Wiranto were both losing
candidates, while Gus Dur did not qualify for the presidential
election last year, which was won by Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. --
