Top female graduate killed by married lover

JAKARTA (JP): Police said they have nabbed an over zealous father of three who is believed to have stabbed to death his 24- year-old lover at the victim's house in Menteng Dalam, South Jakarta.

The preliminary police investigation showed that Arjon Kohar, 34, a worker at an offshore drilling firm, killed the victim yesterday morning, a day after she informed him that she had another boyfriend.

Relatives of the victim told police that they objected to the couple's love affair because Arjon is a married man.

Arjon is married to a widow who is a mother of three children, while the victim Leni Anggraeni, who was known as the best female graduate of the Law School of the Indonesian Christian University (UKI) in Cawang, East Jakarta, was still single.

The victim, who planned to join a notary school this year, suffered three stabs, one to each breast and one to the stomach.

According to Arjon, he was upset when Leni told him on Monday that she had a new boyfriend.

At about 8 a.m. yesterday he rang Leni from his house in Bekasi to make sure that she was at home.

With a knife and a grinder, he drove his car to Leni's parents' house on Jl. Palbatu 2 at Menteng Dalam. En route he sharpened his knife.

When he arrived at the house in Menteng Dalam he rushed into Leni's living room and stabbed her three times in front of her younger sister. He then tried to flee. But the victim's neighbors, who heard repeated calls for help, rushed to the scene and chased the suspect. (bsr)
