Top athletes help fund raising

JAKARTA (JP): The pictures of top national athletes will be
stamped on the cans of a renowned soft drink as part of a sports
fund-raising program.

World badminton queen Susi Susanti, Indonesia's fastest man
Mardi Lestari, the 1986 Olympic silver medalist archer
Nurfitriyana Lantang, leading boxer Albert Papilaya and young
international footballer Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto have been
selected to represent their respective sports. Another recipient,
basketball, failed to pick its personality.

Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Hayono Isman said
yesterday that the youth and sports foundation will take Rp 20
from the sale of each can of Coca Cola.

The foundation will distribute half of the funds among the six
sports to help athletes improve their performance. Forty percent
of the funds will go to the six sports organizations and the rest
will be given to the National Sports Council. (amd)
