Top 100 Works from Sekolah Rakyat Photo Competition Exhibited at TIM
A total of 100 curated works from the National Sekolah Rakyat Photography Competition are being exhibited at Galeri Cipta 1, Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Jakarta, from 21 to 25 July 2026. The works were selected from approximately 700 photographs submitted by participants from various regions across Indonesia.
Jury member Arbain Rambey stated that the participants’ enthusiasm exceeded expectations. He noted that the submitted photographs powerfully and inspiringly captured the spirit of learning and life within the Sekolah Rakyat programme. “Participants successfully documented the spirit of learning and life in Sekolah Rakyat through inspiring visual works,” Arbain said during the exhibition opening at Galeri Cipta 1 TIM on Tuesday (21/7).
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesian Photography Association (AFI), Andi Kusnadi, explained that the competition and exhibition aim to introduce the Sekolah Rakyat Programme to the wider public through a visual approach. “Many people are still unaware of the Sekolah Rakyat Programme. Through photography, the programme’s message can be conveyed more intimately and is easier to understand,” he said.
The exhibition is a collaboration between AFI, MATA Magazine, and PT Basik, with support from the Ministry of Social Affairs. Andi expressed hope that similar activities could be expanded to the regional level through collaboration with the Ministry of Villages.
