Top 10 Best-Selling Smartphones in Q1 2026: From Flagship to Rp 1 Million Models
Global tech market research firm Counterpoint Research has released a list of the world’s top 10 best-selling smartphones for the first quarter of 2026.
The results show Apple and Samsung dominating the list in different ways, with Xiaomi securing the final spot.
Counterpoint noted these models achieved double-digit annual growth in key markets such as China and the United States, with sales tripling in South Korea compared to the same period last year.
Apple secured the top three positions, with the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro taking second and third places respectively.
Both models outperform the regular iPhone 17 in camera capabilities, battery life, and premium design through new colour options, materials, and finishes.
Alongside the three 17-series models, the regular iPhone 16 remains in sixth place, having been the world’s best-selling phone in 2025 per Counterpoint.
Samsung, meanwhile, dominated not through its flagship line but via the Galaxy A series, with five models in the top 10 – making it the brand with the most entries.
The Galaxy A07 4G was Samsung’s best-seller and the top-selling Android smartphone this quarter, driven by emerging markets in the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America – key regions for entry to mid-range smartphones.
Other globally popular Samsung models include the Galaxy A17 5G, A56, A36, and A17 4G.
Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, narrowly missed the top 10 but saw higher sales than its predecessor at launch.
Xiaomi closed the list in tenth place with the Redmi A5, the cheapest smartphone on the list, marking the return of the Redmi A series to the global best-sellers list after it had previously been dominated by iPhones and Galaxy devices.
Overall, these top 10 smartphones accounted for approximately 25% of global sales, the highest first-quarter figure in Counterpoint’s recorded history.
