Jakarta, VIVA – The automotive competition landscape in Indonesia in January 2026 shows stable dominance from major brands favoured by the public. Data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo) shows that Toyota once again cemented its position as market leader with retail sales reaching 22,066 units.

With a market share of 33.0 per cent, Toyota proved itself as the most trusted brand among consumers in the country. The presence of various leading product lines keeps Toyota as the top choice for both families and business needs.

Daihatsu followed in second place with a solid performance, selling 11,202 vehicles. The brand secured a market share of 16.7 per cent, strengthening its position as a major player in the mass-market vehicle segment.

Mitsubishi Motors also demonstrated a strong presence, occupying third place with sales of 6,141 units. This achievement equates to a 9.2 per cent market share, affirming the popularity of their flagship products among consumers.

Suzuki continued to show its strength in fourth position with total retail sales of 5,501 units. With a market share of 8.2 per cent, Suzuki remains an important contributor to the growth of the national automotive industry.

Honda also remained among the elite top five with sales of 4,233 units in January. Honda continues to be a highly regarded brand thanks to its innovation and reputation, which is deeply embedded in the public consciousness.

In the following positions, Mitsubishi Fuso led the commercial vehicle category with total retail sales of 2,538 units. BYD followed closely in seventh place, recording 2,516 units, demonstrating strong market interest in new technology.

Isuzu remained consistent in making a positive contribution with sales of 2,085 units, occupying eighth place. Meanwhile, Jaecoo emerged as a new force in ninth position with total retail sales reaching 2,031 units.

Hino completed the top ten list with total sales of 1,656 units across all regions of Indonesia during January. The presence of these established brands ensures that market competition remains robust and provides considerable added value for consumers.
