Tons of cement hijacked on toll road

JAKARTA: A semitrailer carrying 32 tons of cement was hijacked by eight men at kilometer 33 of the Cikampek toll road from Jakarta heading to Central Java.

Driver Agus Rusmin, 42, had parked up the truck after he began to fell sleepy, Antara quoted police Second Inspector Abdri as saying on Wednesday. Agus and his assistant Henry, 19, then got out of the truck and fell asleep. When the pair woke up, they found themselves surrounded by eight men and had knives held to their throats.

Both victims, natives of Cirebon, were tied up and dumped on the toll road in the Lemah Abang area of Bekasi. After freeing themselves, Agus and Henry took a public transportation vehicle to Bekasi Police Station and reported the case. -- JP
