Tomy faces tough final rally stage
JAKARTA (JP): Leading Hutomo Mandala Putra entered yesterday a decisive stage of the national rally championship series at the Gembala Sriwijaya racing area, South Sumatra.
Hutomo, or Tomy, topped the championship standings with 50 points before the 23-field. Two-day race started yesterday.
A victory today will earn Tomy, who is driving a Subaru Imprezza, his first crown ever.
Defending champion Tony Hardianto and Doly Indra Nasution closely trailed Tomy on the leader board and could pose the most serious challenge to front-runner Tomy.
National drivers will complete 16 special stages covering 224.28 kilometers during the race, the fourth and final leg of the series. (amd)
