Tomorrow, Bareskrim to Examine Suspect AT in Illegal Mining Case in Konawe
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Bareskrim Polri will examine the suspect with initials AT tomorrow, Tuesday (21/4/2026), regarding the alleged illegal mining case in North Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi, involving PT Masempo Dalle.
“The plan is for tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock, we will summon the suspect AT. We will wait to see if the individual attends to complete the existing case files,” said the Director of Specific Crimes (Dirtipidter) of Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Mohammad Irhamni, to reporters on Monday (20/4/2026).
“This is the first summons. Yesterday, a rescheduling was requested for the 21st, which means tomorrow, Tuesday,” he stated.
Irhamni added that his team is still investigating the role of suspect AT in the illegal mining case.
Further details will only be available after the examination is conducted.
“We are still conducting an in-depth investigation. Tomorrow, during the examination as a suspect, we will find out the extent of the individual’s roles,” Irhamni explained.
Currently, the process is entering the second stage, namely the handover of the suspect and evidence to the public prosecutor.
“Bareskrim has designated AT as the Director of PT Masempo Dalle and MSW as the acting Director/Authorised Director of PT Masempo Dalle as suspects,” said Dirtipidter Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Mohammad Irhamni in his statement on Monday (16/3/2026).
Irhamni explained that the suspects are charged under Law Number 3 of 2020 on Mineral and Coal Mining.
Article 158 is applied for mining without permission, with a penalty of five years’ imprisonment and a maximum fine of Rp100 billion.
Therefore, the police took action against the illegal nickel mining activities in Morombo Pantai Village, Lasolo Kepulauan Subdistrict, North Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi.
“Based on the investigation results, earth excavation and nickel activities were found outside the valid permits. During the examination, the company failed to show valid Mining Business Permits (IUP) for the operational area,” said Irhamni.
