Tomini Raya Transmigration Area Contributes Rp 1 Trillion from Durian Exports to China
Minister of Transmigration M Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara stated that the Bahari Tomini Raya transmigration area makes a significant contribution to durian production in Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi. He noted that the transmigration area accounts for around 80 percent of durian production in the region, with an economic value reaching hundreds of billions up to nearly Rp 1 trillion per year. “This transmigration area contributes around 80 percent of durian production in Parigi Moutong Regency with a value of hundreds of billions up to nearly Rp 1 trillion per year,” said Iftitah at Grha ITS, Surabaya, East Java, on Saturday (18/01/2026). “Two days ago, we just returned from Palu, Central Sulawesi. Together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Trade, National Quarantine Agency, Customs, and the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government, we launched durian exports to China. One of them was from the Bahari Tomini Raya transmigration area,” he added. Iftitah assessed that this achievement demonstrates that the transmigration programme has undergone a transformation, no longer just about relocating populations, but becoming an economic driver based on areas. On that occasion, the graduation of Patriot Hero, Abdul Rohid, also took place. He was a D4 student in Instrumentation Engineering at the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) who fell in Bahari Tomini Raya, Parigi Moutong Regency. In his final days, he dedicated himself to serving as part of the Patriot Expedition Team (TEP) in the Bahari Tomini Raya transmigration area. “The late Abdul Rohid actually had the option to take an easier path. He was supposed to graduate in September last year, but he chose to postpone it all. Rohid chose to join the Patriot Transmigration programme. He chose to go to the field, he chose to serve. That was certainly not an ordinary decision, it was a patriot’s decision,” said Iftitah. Sitting next to Iftitah were Abdul Rohid’s parents and his younger sister, Aprilia Nur Intan Saputri (16). The three appeared to sob from the start of the ceremony procession. Especially April, who always held her brother’s photo. First, the government through the Ministry of Transmigration will provide full education scholarships to April until she graduates from vocational high school (SMK). Second, the Ministry of Transmigration will prepare the best batik clothing for the parents and siblings of the late for wearing at the graduation, as a form of respect and fulfilment of a child’s promise to the family.
