TOKYO (Dow Jones): Tomen Corp. a Japanese general trading company, said Monday it has tripled production capacity at its styrene monomer plant in Indonesia to 300,000 metric tons.
The plant, PT Styrindo Mono Indonesia, located in West Java, makes styrene monomer for use in electrical appliances, packaging materials, and home products, Tomen said in a statement. Tomen has a 65 percent stake in the plant, while local investors have a 30 percent share, and Japan's Idemitsu Petrochemicals Co. owns 5 percent.
The plant began production in December 1992 with production capacity of 100,000 tons. The expansion of capacity to 300,000 tons was completed in late June, Tomen said.
